Pinot Noir is the most delicate grape 1000 Stories works with, which makes the winery’s bourbon-barrel finish the interesting part. The oak is handled with a lighter touch here, adding warmth and a little smoke while leaving the fruit its lift. The result sits somewhere between classic California Pinot and the bolder, spicier reds this label is known for.
Red cherry, raspberry and dried rose come first, followed by vanilla, baking spice and a soft toasted note on the finish. Tannins stay silky, so it drinks well slightly cool.
