Product Description
14 Hands takes its name from the wild mustangs that once roamed the hills of eastern Washington, and the wines keep that plainspoken spirit. This Merlot is Columbia Valley fruit handled without pretense: ripe, generous and meant to be opened on a weeknight rather than filed away. Washington’s long warm days and cool nights give the grape both sugar and acid, which is why it stays fresh at this weight.
The 2016 pours plush with black cherry, plum and a hint of cocoa, edged with soft vanilla oak. Tannins are round and easygoing, the finish smooth and unhurried. Serve it with roast pork, burgers, pasta in red sauce or a simple board of cheese.
