Extra añejo is the longest-aged category tequila has, and Milenio is 1800’s entry into it. The spirit spends years in oak before a final rest in casks that once held French cognac, and that last step is what gives the bottle its signature — a sweetness and perfume closer to fine brandy than to anything most people expect from agave. The sculpted decanter is meant to be kept.
Deep amber and thickly textured, it offers dried apricot, toffee, vanilla and dark chocolate over roasted agave, with a finish that goes on and on. Pour it neat, no ice, in a tulip glass, and give it a few minutes in the air. A serious bottle for a serious occasion.
