The anejo is the patient end of the 3 Tres range — tequila given real time in oak until the spirit turns amber and the agave settles into something rounder and more contemplative. It is the bottle in the lineup meant for sipping rather than shaking, and it presents accordingly.
Expect caramel, toasted oak and dried fruit over a soft cooked-agave base, with vanilla warmth and a long, gentle finish. Pour it neat in a small glass, or over one large cube if you prefer it opened up. It stands in comfortably where a good bourbon or aged rum would otherwise go.
