The anejo is 818 at its most patient. Made in Jalisco from blue agave and given a long rest in oak, it takes the brand’s famously soft house style and adds weight, color and a genuine sipping profile. Whatever brought people to 818 in the first place, this is the bottle that keeps the aged-tequila crowd interested.
Expect deep gold color, caramel and vanilla, roasted agave, a hint of cinnamon and cocoa, and a smooth, lingering finish with almost no burn. Pour it neat or over one large cube; it also makes an excellent tequila old fashioned. Best kept for after dinner rather than the blender.
