Alexander Valley Vineyards has been farming the same Sonoma County ground since 1975, and Cabernet Sauvignon is the wine the estate is built around. Alexander Valley fruit tends to ripen fully without turning jammy, which gives this bottling its combination of generosity and structure.
Cassis and black cherry lead, backed by cocoa, cedar and a savory herbal note, with polished tannins and a long, dry finish. Decant it briefly if you can. Pair it with ribeye, lamb, braised short ribs, or a wedge of aged cheddar after dinner.
