ArteNOM is an unusual project: rather than build one distillery, it selects a single expression from individual distilleries and bottles it under that distillery NOM number. Seleccion de 1146 is the anejo in the series, sourced from one house in Jalisco and released without blending across producers. The approach is closer to how serious wine importers work than to how most tequila brands operate.
A year or more in oak brings cooked agave together with vanilla, dried apple, light cocoa and a hint of pepper, finishing dry rather than sweet. Serve it neat at room temperature in a copita. It rewards attention and makes a persuasive gift for a whiskey drinker.
