Barefoot sells an enormous amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, and the reason is not mysterious: it tastes like Cabernet, it costs very little, and it is the same every time you buy it. For a wine that gets opened on ordinary Tuesdays rather than anniversaries, that reliability is the whole product.
It is medium-bodied and fruit-driven, with blackcurrant, black cherry and plum, a whisper of vanilla and mocha, and tannins soft enough to drink on its own. Serve it just below room temperature in a large glass. It pairs comfortably with steak, burgers, meat sauces, mushroom dishes and aged cheese.
