Product Description
Very Old Barton comes out of Bardstown, Kentucky, from a distillery that has been making whiskey under one name or another since the nineteenth century. It has spent decades as one of the great value bourbons, the sort of bottle bartenders buy for themselves and quietly recommend to anyone asking what to drink when the budget is real.
At 100 proof it has genuine backbone: caramel, toasted grain and a firm oak spine, with vanilla and a little dry char on the finish. Drink it neat if you like the heat, or over a large cube where it opens up considerably. It also makes an unusually good Old Fashioned, since the proof survives dilution intact.
