Product Description
Barbaresco is the smaller and often more graceful of the two great Nebbiolo appellations of the Langhe hills in Piedmont, and Batasiolo is a long-established estate working in that corner of northwest Italy. This is serious wine at a price that stays well below what neighboring Barolo commands.
Nebbiolo gives it its signature contradiction: pale garnet in the glass, powerful on the palate. Expect sour cherry, dried rose, tar and truffle, with firm tannin and bright acidity carrying a long finish. Decant it for an hour and serve it just below room temperature, alongside braised beef, mushroom risotto, aged cheese or anything slow-cooked and rich.
