Product Description
Batasiolo farms in the Langhe hills of Piedmont, where Dolcetto is the wine growers drink while waiting for their Nebbiolo to come around. The name translates roughly as little sweet one, which refers to the grape rather than the wine: this is dry, dark and built for the dinner table rather than for contemplation.
Look for black cherry, plum and a bitter almond note on the finish, with soft acidity and a gentle tannic grip. Serve it slightly cool, around cellar temperature, which suits its fruit better than a warm room. It is a natural with salumi, pizza, tomato-based pasta, braised sausage and hard Italian cheeses, and it needs no decanting.
