Two extra years and a different cask trio separate The Twelve from its younger sibling, and the difference shows immediately. BenRiach matures this one in sherry, bourbon and port casks, then bottles it at a higher strength, which gives the whisky more weight and a deeper color without tipping into heaviness. It is the sweet spot in the core range.
Rich stone fruit leads, followed by dark chocolate, raisin and a gentle spice, all carried on a rounded, slightly oily texture. The finish lingers on dried fruit and oak. Sip it neat after dinner, or pour it alongside a dessert built on nuts or caramel.
