Rioja earns its reputation through patience, and Crianza is the level where that patience first becomes obvious. Berceo ages this red in oak and then in bottle before release, so it arrives already softened and ready to drink rather than needing years in a cellar. For the money it is one of the most consistently satisfying red wines Spain sends to the United States.
The profile is classic: red cherry and strawberry, sweet vanilla and coconut from oak, a little leather and dried herb behind it. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity, it is made for food. Pour it with lamb chops, chorizo, roasted vegetables, or a plate of Manchego.
