Product Description
The Bila-Haut project works the schist and granite hillsides of Roussillon, in the deep south of France, where old Grenache, Syrah and Carignan vines produce reds with real intensity. L Esquerda is one of the site-specific bottlings, and it consistently overdelivers against wines costing considerably more.
The wine is dark and concentrated, with black cherry, wild garrigue herbs, crushed stone and a peppery lift, carried on firm but polished tannins. Give it time in a decanter, then pour with grilled lamb, duck, cassoulet or anything cooked over a fire. Serve it a touch cool. Southern France doing what it does best.
