California Chardonnay in the crowd-pleasing register: ripe, rounded and touched with oak, but held together by enough acidity to keep it from turning heavy. Black Stallion makes it in Napa Valley, and it reflects the warmth of that place without tipping into caricature.
Expect golden apple, ripe pear and citrus, with a creamy note of vanilla and toasted oak on the finish. Serve it chilled but not frigid, since too much cold flattens the texture.
