BLACKENED finishes its whiskey in barrels subjected to low-frequency sound, a process the brand calls Black Noise, and for this limited edition it handed the blend to Wes Henderson, a name that carries real weight in Kentucky barrel finishing. The result is a cask strength Kentucky straight bourbon given additional time in white port wine casks. Limited edition means exactly that, and these do not come back.
Full proof shows in the texture: dark fruit, fig and raisin from the port, over brown sugar, toasted oak and a long peppery finish. A little water is worth trying before you commit to it neat. For collectors and for bourbon drinkers who want something with a story and the strength to back it up.
