Product Description
Merlot spent a decade being unfairly maligned, and bottles like this are part of why the tide turned. Bread and Butter builds its California wines on a simple idea, which is ripe fruit, soft edges and generous oak, and applies it here to a grape that takes very well to the treatment.
The wine is plush and dark, with black cherry, plum and a dusting of cocoa and vanilla over tannins so smooth they barely register. Drink it with roast chicken, mushroom pasta or a burger, or on its own while dinner cooks. If you want a red that asks nothing of you, this is the one.
