Prosecco comes from northeastern Italy, where the Glera grape and the tank method produce a sparkling wine fresher and fruitier than Champagne by design. Bread and Butter, a name built in California, puts it on an Italian made bottling, which is less strange than it sounds. The brand has always been in the business of straightforward pleasure.
The bubbles are fine and persistent, the flavours run to green apple, white peach and honeysuckle, and the finish is crisp with only a suggestion of sweetness. Serve it properly cold in a tulip glass, or send it into spritzes and mimosas without a second thought. Brunch, birthdays, and ordinary Tuesdays.
