Product Description
The Sta. Rita Hills run east to west, funnelling cold Pacific air straight into the vineyards. It is one of the few California appellations where Chardonnay ripens slowly and still keeps its nerve. Brewer Clifton has spent decades working this corner of Santa Barbara County, and the house style favours tension over opulence at every turn.
Expect citrus pith, green apple and crushed stone rather than butter and vanilla, closing on a saline, mouthwatering finish. Serve it cool but not frigid in a proper white wine glass and give it a few minutes to open. Pair with halibut, oysters, roast chicken or a hard alpine cheese. For drinkers who lean towards Chablis.
