Broadside built a following by doing one thing well, which is making Central Coast Cabernet that tastes like it cost considerably more than it did. The approach is low intervention and light on new oak, leaving the fruit and the site to carry the wine instead of the barrel programme.
The result is dark and firm, with blackberry, cassis, graphite and a dried herb lift over tannins that have grip without harshness. Decant it if you have the time, since it opens well across an hour. Ideal with grilled steak, braised short rib or a mushroom heavy pasta. A smart house Cabernet for people who read back labels.
