Blended malt is the rarest of the Scotch categories, containing no grain whisky at all, only single malts from different distilleries married together. Buchanan's Select is built that way and carries a fifteen year age statement, which means the youngest malt in the bottle has spent at least that long in oak.
The higher malt content shows in the weight: dried fruit, toffee, orange peel and a gentle nuttiness, with a rich texture and a warm, lingering close.
