Buck Shack makes red wine with the volume up: big fruit, bold oak, and none of the reticence that can make a serious bottle feel like work at the end of a long day. The label has a real following, and the appeal is not complicated. It tastes like something is happening in the glass.
Expect dark berry and plum with warm baking spice, a smoky vanilla note from barrel, and a full, rounded finish. Serve it slightly below room temperature and pour it alongside grilled ribeye, smoked brisket, barbecue ribs or a burger with blue cheese. Steak night wine, and entirely unapologetic about it.
