Aged considerably longer than the original and finished so that oak comes forward instead of sugar, it trades some of the brand's candied character for structure and depth. Bottled at eighty proof in the same weighty decanter, this is the one to buy when the rum is meant to be sipped rather than mixed into something.
Toffee, dried fig and dark chocolate lead, followed by vanilla, oak spice and a long warm finish that stays dry at the edges. Drink it neat at room temperature, or over one large cube, the way you would treat any good aged spirit. Strong after dinner, and a confident gift for a whiskey drinker.
