Julias Vineyard lies in the Santa Maria Valley, where cold Pacific fog rolls in most mornings and slows ripening to a crawl. That long, cool growing season is exactly what Pinot Noir needs, and Cambria has been drawing a single vineyard bottling from this site for decades. One of the more consistently rewarding California Pinots at its price.
The wine is bright and perfumed, with red cherry, cranberry and baking spice over fine tannins and lively acidity. Chill it slightly, to around fifty five degrees, and give it fifteen minutes in the glass. Pour it with grilled salmon, roast duck, mushroom pasta or a well stocked charcuterie board.
