Product Description
Castellani has farmed in Tuscany for generations, and its Chianti Classico Riserva is the bottling where that experience shows most clearly. Riserva status means extra time in the cellar before release, and the 2016 arrives with its tannins settled and the fruit fully knitted together rather than still finding its shape.
Sangiovese gives it sour cherry, dried herbs and a savory, almost tea-leaf edge, with the firm acidity that makes Tuscan reds so good at the table. Decant briefly, then pour it with bistecca, ragu, aged pecorino or a Sunday roast. It rewards food more than it rewards sipping alone.
