Caymus is one of the names that made California Cabernet famous, and the Wagner family has been building the house style since 1972: ripe, generous and instantly recognizable. This California bottling brings that approach to a wider sourcing area while keeping the plush texture the label is known for.
The wine is full-bodied and softly fruited, with cassis, dark cherry, mocha and toasted vanilla oak, finishing round rather than tannic. Serve it with ribeye, short ribs, or a burger you have taken seriously. It drinks beautifully young, which is a large part of the appeal.
