Leyenda sits at the top of the Gran Centenario range, an extra anejo held in oak far longer than the category requires and presented in a decanter that says as much before the cork comes out. Extra anejo is the most demanding style in tequila, because the spirit has to survive years in wood without being flattened by it, and few houses attempt it seriously.
Deep amber, with dried fruit, toffee, roasted nut and sweet oak over a distant hum of cooked agave, full-bodied with a long, silky finish. Pour it neat in a copita at room temperature and give it time. For a milestone, a significant gift, or an evening when nothing else on the shelf will do.
