Cellier des Princes farms in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, and its Cotes du Rhone draws on that same southern Rhone know-how at a fraction of the price. Grenache-led blends from this corner of France have been the reliable answer to what should we drink tonight for a very long time.
The wine is warm and generous, with red plum, garrigue herbs, black pepper and a soft, dusty finish. It goes with roast chicken, sausages, ratatouille, lamb, or a cheese plate at the end of the night. Serve it slightly cool. Uncomplicated in the best way, and consistently good value.
