Product Description
The northern Medoc, where Chateau la Cardonne farms, is the unglamorous end of a very glamorous peninsula, and that is exactly why the wines are worth finding. Cru Bourgeois status marks estates judged to deliver quality above their classification, and 2016 was an outstanding Bordeaux vintage.
Cabernet-led and classically built, it gives blackcurrant, cedar, pencil shavings and a savory earth note over firm, fine tannins. Decant it an hour ahead and serve with lamb, steak, or a hard aged cheese. Proper claret with some age on it, at a price that still makes sense.
