La Tour de Mons has been making wine in Margaux since the seventeenth century, and it remains one of the appellation's most reliable names outside the classified growths. Margaux is Bordeaux's most perfumed commune, and the estate leans into that character.
The wine is elegant and aromatic, with blackcurrant, violet, cedar and a fine dusting of tannin that stays polished rather than firm. Decant it and serve with lamb, beef, or duck. Margaux at a sane price, and a good demonstration of why the appellation is talked about the way it is.
