Eighteen years in cask changes the conversation. Gold Signature is the richer, darker end of the Chivas range, built from malt and grain whiskies all matured at least that long, and presented accordingly: heavier glass, gold detailing, a bottle meant to be given as often as opened.
Expect dried fruit, dark chocolate and butterscotch layered over a wisp of smoke, with a velvety texture and a finish that genuinely holds. Drink it neat in a tulip glass, with water only if you want it, and give it a few minutes to open before the first proper sip.
