Extra 13 sits between the familiar 12 Year Old and the more serious expressions above it, adding a year of maturation and a noticeably richer character along with it. It is aimed at the drinker who already knows the house style and wants more weight from it without stepping up to eighteen-year money.
The blend drinks fuller and sweeter than the standard bottling, orchard fruit and vanilla carried on a warm spiced note through a smooth, generous finish. Neat is the right starting point. It also holds up in a whisky sour, or over one large cube after dinner.
