Most vodka starts with grain. Ciroc starts with grapes, grown in France, pressed and fermented like wine before the spirit is distilled five times and finished in a copper pot still. That one decision explains why the unflavored bottle tastes the way it does: softer, faintly fruity, and noticeably less austere than the grain-based competition.
Citrus and a hint of white grape on the nose, silky across the palate, with a crisp, clean finish and very little burn. It makes an elegant martini, a clean vodka soda, and a mule that needs less lime than usual to behave. The house pour for anyone who prefers smooth to sharp.
