Product Description
Codigo 1530 does something almost no other tequila house does: it sources its barrels from Napa Valley wineries, using uncharred French white oak that previously held Cabernet Sauvignon. Origen is the extra anejo at the top of that programme, left in those casks for years until the spirit turns deep amber and the wine influence works its way all the way through. Production is small and the bottle is treated accordingly.
The result is unusual and memorable: dark berry fruit and dried cherry from the wine casks, over caramel, cocoa, cooked agave and a long, dry, tannic finish. Serve it neat in a wide glass, no ice, and give it air. A bottle for wine drinkers who think they do not like tequila, and for collectors who know better.
