Reserva is not a marketing word in Rioja, it is a legal one. To use it, a red must spend at least three years maturing before release, with a minimum of twelve months in oak, and the estate carries that cost rather than the drinker. Coto de Imaz is one of the steady performers of the region.
Expect the classic Rioja profile: red cherry and dried fig with vanilla, leather and sweet coconut-tinged oak, all softened by time. Serve it at cool room temperature. Lamb, roast pork, manchego and grilled meats are natural partners, and the wine is already drinking beautifully.
