Product Description
Christian Moueix came to Napa in 1982 and bought the historic Napanook vineyard in Yountville. Dominus is what he has made there ever since, and it remains one of the few California wines built explicitly on a Bordeaux understanding of restraint.
The 2016 is structured and serious rather than lush: cassis, graphite, cedar and dried herbs over a firm tannic spine, with a long, cool, mineral finish. It wants a decanter and several hours, or ideally another decade in a cellar. Serve it with rare beef, lamb, or nothing at all.
