This one was conceived as a farewell. Ultima Reserva draws on the last of the reserves Don Julio Gonzalez laid down himself, blended and finished so that every bottle carries a trace of the distillery's oldest stock. Extra anejo is the highest aging class tequila permits, and the house treated the release accordingly, presenting it in a case built for display rather than transit. Bottles like this do not get replaced when they run out.
Deep and resinous, with toffee, dried fig, cocoa nib, tobacco leaf and a long warm finish that keeps its agave center intact. Treat it like any aged spirit: neat, a proper glass, no ice, no hurry. Buy it for a milestone, or for the person who has already tried everything else.
