Ultima Reserva is the last chapter of a solera that Don Julio kept going for years, drawing from barrels that had already given up their finest tequila and letting what remained keep maturing. Extra anejo is the top legal tier for aged tequila, and this is the house at its most deliberate.
Deep amber, with dried fig, dark caramel, cocoa and toasted oak wound around the roasted agave. The texture is thick and the finish goes on for a while. Pour a small measure neat, no ice, and treat it the way you would a rare aged rum or a fine Cognac.
