Reserva 7 is Don Q taking its time. The blend is drawn from rums aged up to seven years in American white oak, then married and bottled at a strength that lets the wood and the cane meet on even terms. It is the point in the range where the rum stops being a cocktail ingredient and starts being a sipper.
Toffee, toasted coconut and vanilla lead, with dried apricot and a dry oak finish. Neat is the way to start; a large cube and an orange twist works well after that. Also makes an unusually good old fashioned if you want to bend the rules.
