Product Description
Tawny takes the other road. Where ruby is bottled young to keep the fruit, tawny spends its time in wood, oxidizing gently until the color fades toward amber and the flavors turn nutty. Dow makes this one in the drier style the house has favored since the eighteenth century.
Look for caramel, toasted almond, dried apricot and a warm spice note, with a finish that is smooth and not cloying. Serve it slightly chilled after a meal, or alongside almonds and hard cheese. It is the more forgiving of the two styles once opened, holding up for several weeks in the refrigerator.
