Paraduxx began as the Duckhorn experiment in blending Cabernet Sauvignon with Zinfandel, a pairing Napa had largely left alone. The 2016 now sits a decade back from vintage, which tends to be when these blends stop declaring themselves and start speaking. A library bottle at a sensible price, from a name that needs no introduction.

Bottle age has rounded the edges: dried black cherry and plum, cigar box, a little sweet spice, and tannins that have gone from firm to silky. Decant it off any sediment and drink it the same evening, with braised beef, mushroom risotto or a hard aged cheese.
