Product Description
Chateauneuf-du-Pape earned its reputation on sun-baked stones and old Grenache vines, and Guigal is one of the Rhone houses that can be trusted to bottle the appellation honestly. This is a serious southern Rhone red from a producer better known for its northern holdings, and it carries the family's preference for patience in cellar and barrel.
Full-bodied and generous, it leans on ripe red and black fruit, garrigue herbs, pepper and a savory earthiness that builds across the finish. Decant an hour ahead and pour it with roast lamb, braised short ribs, mushroom risotto or a board of hard cheeses. It will also reward a few more years lying down.
