El Jimador is named for the field workers who harvest agave by hand, and the brand has stayed true to that unglamorous beginning. It is made at Casa Herradura in Jalisco from one hundred percent blue Weber agave, with none of the mixto shortcuts. The anejo is the most patient bottling in the range and the best argument for the house style.
Time in American oak brings caramel, vanilla and toasted spice around the cooked-agave core, finishing warm, smooth and lightly sweet. Drink it neat or over one large cube, or let it anchor an anejo old fashioned. A genuinely good aged tequila at a price that leaves room for a second bottle.
