Viura is the backbone of white Rioja, and blending it with Chardonnay draws on two instincts at once: Spanish freshness and French roundness. Faustino has been working this territory for well over a century.
The wine is dry and bright, with green apple, pear and citrus over a soft, faintly creamy mid-palate and a crisp finish. Serve it well chilled with shellfish, tortilla espanola, roast chicken, or a plate of jamon and olives. It works as an aperitif and then stays on for dinner.
