Product Description
Blending, not distilling, is the skill on display here. Five Trail is built from a set of American whiskeys married together and cut with Rocky Mountain water, and the name refers to the number of components in the blend. It is a modern American whiskey in the best sense: assembled for balance rather than shock value, and bottled above the usual strength so the blend actually has something to say.
Soft caramel and honeyed grain lead, with orchard fruit, cinnamon and a warm, clean finish carrying just enough oak. Neat in a Glencairn shows off the construction; it also builds an easy highball with soda and lemon. A good bottle for a whiskey drinker who wants something outside the usual Kentucky roster.
