Product Description
Barolo is Piedmont at its most serious, and Franco Serra makes a version that respects the appellation without demanding a decade of patience first. The fruit comes from the Langhe hills, where Nebbiolo ripens late and gives up its structure grudgingly. Long ageing in oak before release does the heavy lifting, softening the grip so the wine arrives ready to enjoy while still carrying the backbone that makes Barolo worth cellaring.
Expect dried cherry and rose petal turning savoury toward truffle and tar, framed by firm tannins and bright acidity. Decant an hour ahead and pour it into a large bowl. It belongs with braised beef, mushroom risotto or a plate of aged cheese, and it rewards a table that lingers.
