Franco Serra bottles the Langhe expression of Piedmont's great grape, grown in the same corner of the country and made by the same hands, but released younger and at a fraction of the cost. For anyone curious about what makes Nebbiolo special, this is the most direct route in, and it is a genuinely useful bottle to keep on hand.
Pale garnet in the glass, with red cherry, dried herbs and a floral lift that Nebbiolo gives up more readily in its youth. The tannins are present but polished. Pour it with roast chicken, veal, or a plate of tajarin with butter and sage, and drink it over the next couple of years rather than burying it in a cellar.
