Product Description
Napa Valley Chardonnay made by a winery that has had a long time to decide what it wants the grape to do. Freemark Abbey has been bottling Chardonnay since the 1960s, including the one entered at the 1976 Paris tasting, and the style aims for proportion above all: oak present but not dominant, fruit ripe but never heavy. The 2018 growing season suited that approach well.
Meyer lemon, white peach and a touch of hazelnut, with a creamy mid palate and enough acidity to keep the finish clean. Serve it cool rather than ice cold so the texture comes through. Roast chicken, crab, or a risotto with spring vegetables all flatter it.
