Product Description
Carmenere is Chile's signature grape by a strange accident of history: it vanished from Bordeaux after phylloxera and spent more than a century in Chile mislabelled as Merlot, until DNA testing sorted the confusion out in the 1990s. Frontera makes an accessible version of it, which is the easiest way to try a variety that grows almost nowhere else at scale.
Dark plum and blackberry with the peppery, green herb edge that gives Carmenere its character, and soft tannins throughout. Serve it lightly cool. It has a real affinity for grilled red meat, peppers, chorizo and anything smoky, and it makes a more interesting weeknight red than the usual suspects.
