George Smith took out a licence in 1824 and began making whisky legally in a glen that had been quietly making it illegally for years. Two centuries later The Glenlivet remains one of the defining names in Speyside, and the twelve-year-old is the bottle that introduced single malt to more drinkers than any other. A benchmark in the truest sense.
Smooth and bright, with orchard fruit, vanilla, honeysuckle and a light citrus note over a clean, gently sweet finish. There is no smoke and no aggression anywhere in it. Serve it neat in a tulip glass, or with a splash of still water if you prefer the aromatics lifted.
